Post Box - The office of Shailesh Vara MP forwarded a letter from Royal Mail Group’s Senior Public Affairs Manager, Michael Hogg.  He states that he will investigate the concerns raised and will reply shortly. 

Telephone Kiosks – Pending planning permission for the relocation of the Barnack kiosk. 

Bus Shelters – Pending PCC’s confirmation of an installation date.


17/01087/FUL, Erection of temporary timber dwelling and agricultural building, Land to the West of Uffington Road, Barnack. Awaiting Decision.

17/01772/HHFUL, Barnack Post Office, Main Street, Demolition of single storey front extension, construction of ground floor rear extension and installation of two dormer windows to front elevation. Permitted.

17/02126/HHFUL, Westcroft, The Square, Proposed replacement of 4 windows with timber box sash elevation. Permitted.

17/02124/FUL, Land to the West of Uffington Road, Erection of a 20ft storage container. Awaiting Decision.

17/02177/HHFUL, Pilsgate Grange, Pilsgate, Proposed extension and alterations to dwelling. Awaiting Decision. 

The Local Plan - The Local Plan has been released for consultation. The PC are required to comment on the soundness and legal compliance of the policies within the Plan.  


Parish Council Liaison - The PC will circulate information from PCC on services including LEAP, Reablement and a handyman Care and Repair Service via local free magazines, social media and noticeboards.

Traffic Calming - BPC are waiting for confirmation of installation costs from PCC.

Police - There have been reports in Peterborough of targeted handbag thefts at supermarkets.  Please lock your car when you return your trolley.

Village Matters &Other Items

Home from Home Update - The childcare provider ‘KIA’ (who took over the running of the out of school club), left without notice on the last day of term, breaching their contract with the school.  As an interim measure the pre-school committee will run a scaled-down out of school club.

Road gutters and drains - Jack Haws Lane and Main Street have blocked drains due to leaf litter.  Adrain clear and road sweep will be requested.  

Wall collapse and fallen branch onWalcot Road - The wall has partially collapsed near to the entrance of Saxon Road, and a tree branch further along the wall has snapped.  PCC will carry out maintenance work to the tree.  The ownership of the wall is being disputed by PCC, therefore the PC will apply for a Land Registry search.

Neighbourhood Plan - 92 responses were received; 77 of which were a ‘yes’ vote.  Although the numbers are below the threshold previously agreed (100 yes votes), there have been several names put forward to help or join a working group.  It was agreed the PC would write to all those who put their names forward to attend a meeting in early April.

War Memorial Junction - The PC will seek a commitment from PCC to carry out the road re-structure.  

Fodder Beet - The beet is due to be lifted later this week and the farmer has taken measures to minimise the impact to Uffington Road and B1443 through Pilsgate.

The next Parish Council Meeting will take place at 7pm on Monday 12thFebruary in the Village Hall.  

Ufford Parish Council

Items discussed include:

The Rural Crime Police team have reported a spate of targeted handbag thefts at supermarkets, and they urge vigilance with locking your car whilst returning your trolley.

Funding has been received from the Big Lottery Fund to cover the cost of a defibrillator for the community.  This will be installed inside the redundant telephone box.

Drainage on Newport Way is scheduled to be improved by PCC Highways within the next three months.

17/02321/HHFUL, Orient House (Aubrietia Cottage), Main Street – Single storey rear extension with flat roof. Permitted.

17/02150/HHFUL, The Drift, Walcot Road – Alterations to detached garage to form ancillary domestic accommodation. No objections.

17/02370/HHFUL, Ufford Hall, Main Street – Construction of recreational tree house, decks and play equipment. No objections.

The Local Plan – The Local Plan was released yesterday for consultation.  The Parish Council is required to comment on the soundness of its policies.  UPC will draft a response to discuss at the February parish council meeting.  

Residents are invited to attend the next Parish Council meeting on Wednesday 14th February at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.
