Barnack Parish Council

The Barnack Annual Village Meeting and Annual Parish Council Meeting took place on Monday 14th May.

Local organisations and groups reported to the residents on their activities over the past year and plans for the future.  There are several events to look forward to such as A Right Royal Wedding on 19th May, Party in the Paddock on 7th July and the Centenary Commemoration ‘Battles Over’ of WW1 on 11th November, as well as the various sporting activities with the Bowls and Cricket Clubs.

Topics discussed at the Parish Council meeting included the appointment of council working group representatives for ongoing projects, Barnack Primary School and plans for the future, updates on traffic calming and village maintenance (such as the appearance of pot holes on every road!). All villagers will shortly receive a flyer through their letterbox advising of the next free bulk waste collection organised by the Parish Council.

The Parish Council were also made aware of a plan to remove pews from St John The Baptist church to create a more flexible space for coffee mornings etc, but this will be queried with the Bishop, as the whole community should be consulted on such a drastic change to the historic church building.

There are several tree works  applications pending, along with the addition of revised plans for the Linden Homes development (18/18/00377/REM) and an application for 27 Uffington Road (18/00620/HHFUL) to build a single storey rear extension and a side/rear extension, annex.

The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday 11th June at 7.00pm in the Village Hall.
