News from Bainton& Ashton Parish Council

Bainton &  Ashton Parish Council (BAPC) last met on 8th January.  The agenda included the regular financial, police, neighbourhood watch and speedwatch reporting.  

The official minutes will be approved at the next meeting, but the following highlighted items were discussed and are summarised here:

•In the report from the Ward Councillor, positive feedback was received following the BAPC sponsored village Christmas celebrations and it was noted that discussion relating to activities in the Children & Education Scrutiny Committee including the delivery of the detailed education strategy and performance standards in rural schools will be held in the Ward.

•Following enquiries BAPC has received a pothole and resurfacing update from Peterborough City Council (PCC) where the responsibility rests and the programme is now uploaded on the website. Dialogue with PCC continues regarding outstanding issues. An update on traffic calming was also noted. The Parish Council also updated on its own maintenance responsibilities.

•Litter is identified as an issue and options for picking are being investigated.

•Noted that PCC has funding for an Integrated Community Strategy to facilitate communities working together. BAPC has agreed to develop a proposal.
