Barnack Pre-School – Outstanding Ofsted report

Ofsted logoFollowing on from the success of Barnack Primary School’s Ofsted report, the Pre-School was also awarded an ‘Outstanding’ after being inspected in June. In fact, the setting was deemed to be ‘outstanding’ in every area assessed, which is something to be very proud of indeed.
The report (which can be found in full at the Ofsted website – reference  260892) says the environment at the Pre-School is ‘inspiring, well organised and provides wonderful learning opportunities for all children’.

It goes on to say that ‘the manager and staff are motivated (and) extremely enthusiastic’ and ‘demonstrate exceptional commitment to working in partnership with parents’.  It describes the ‘vibrant atmosphere where children thrive and respond to challenges with enormous enthusiasm. Children show inspiring levels of independence, curiosity and imagination and are exceptionally well supported by staff as they play. Children are cared for according to their individual needs and parents’ wishes’.

It says that ‘staff recognise that children learn best when they are having fun and are interested and excited by what they are doing....they relish an excellent range of first hand learning experiences...(and) thoroughly enjoy being in the fresh air and engage in an excellent range of forest school activities’. It also concludes that ‘children develop excellent levels of confidence and self-esteem and have a strong understanding of other people’s needs’.

As a parent, I believe this really accurately sums up the strengths of the Pre-School and am delighted that Ofsted recognised this on their visit. Thanks to Catharine Wright and her team of staff, who are doing an excellent job and deserve the high praise they received – as well as all the parents and children who contribute to make the Pre-School such a special place.

In September the Pre-School will be opening for longer hours (9am-3pm Tues, Wed, Thurs, 9am-12noon Mon, Fri). Please contact the bookings secretary on 749407 for more information or to arrange a visit.
