New Years Day 2017
Some years ago, it was traditional to hold a lunch for Barnack residents on New Years Day in the Village Hall. This seems like a good idea, a nice way finish off the Christmas and New Year celebrations and a chance to relax and wind down.
The Barnack Community Association feel that it would be good to organise a lunch for 2017, so watch this space for more details.

Flower Arranging Group.

Little Lambs
Little Lambs Toddler Group takes place every Tuesday (in term time) at Barnack Village Hall from 10am-12pm.  Little Lambs meets on 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th November.
Little Lambs is for mums, dads, grandparents and carers with babies and toddlers from birth to 4 years.  Each session starts off with the hall set out with toys and games, a home play corner, tunnel and slide and rugs to sit on.  There’s always a great craft activity to share and a jigsaw puzzle table. Midway through the morning, tea, coffee and cakes are served around a long table, with a tasty snack of fruit and small cake or biscuit for the children. This is followed by a bible story and song time, which the children all seem to really enjoy.  Then, with the hall cleared, there is ten minutes or so for the toddlers to let off a bit of steam whizzing round on cars and trikes before going home for a well-earned rest, and hopefully an afternoon nap. Little Lambs is a lovely, welcoming place to meet new people, catch up with friends and watch the children discover the fun of playing together.  To find out more about Little Lambs please contact Julie Stanton 749123.
Little Lambs is run by Barnack Church.

The Coffee Stop – Wednesday mornings
Coffee Stop is held in Barnack Village Hall from 10.30am to 12.30pm, in the side room which is all set out like a proper coffee shop.  We serve cafetière coffee, lovely homemade cakes, scones and toasted teacakes all at very reasonable prices.   We have a play corner for little ones who come with mums, dads and grandparents.   It is a good place to meet up with friends and to make new friends or for a break when out for a walk - just drop in whenever suits you.  Open to everyone - we look forward to welcoming you.    Please ring Anita Clark 740841 or 07880604186 if you want to find out more.
Coffee Stop is run by Barnack Church.

Men’s Breakfast
The next Men’s Breakfast will be on Saturday 12th November in Barnack Village Hall at 8.30am.  We would be really pleased for you to join us for a full English breakfast cooked by Rob.     After the food there is usually a talk on something of local interest.    You can just come along on the day but a quick call to Rob Porter 740663 beforehand helps to ensure there are plenty of sausages and bacon for everyone!

The Licensing Weekend.
The Barnack Church bells were rung beautifully early on Sunday 25th September morning to call local residents to come to the Benefice Service being held at 11am.  The immediate purpose of the Service was to celebrate the licensing of Mike Mills as a Reader: that had happened in Peterborough Cathedral on the previous day, when the Bishop licensed a total of 13 Readers, 7 Lay Pastoral Ministers and 1 Lay Evangelist for the Diocese.  As many as 50 members and friends of our Benefice had attended the event, along with many hundreds of supporters from other parishes in the Peterborough Diocese.  But the broader purpose of the Sunday morning Benefice Service, led by Revd Dave Maylor and with the support of Revd Canons Margaret Venables and Haydn Smart, was to encourage all committed Christians in the four parishes in their discipleship and ministry activities.  Revd Maylor preached on the Great Commission, the last words said by Jesus during his time on earth.  After the Benefice Service, a bring-and-share lunch was also much enjoyed by the large numbers of people who had come to join in the special occasion.

Barnack WI
The meeting took place on Tues 13th Oct
Eve Marshall (the Felt Lady) was our instructor. For almost an hour and a half we had an absorbing and fun time. We turned nice fluffy lamb’s wool, by using a process of  water, detergent and a great deal of frivolity into a felted fabric  to make a Christmas decoration.I think most ladies were pleased and amused by their efforts. Now in order to reimburse the coffers for the cost of the evening ,a £2 for tea and cake event will take place on 17th of November at 4 Kingsley Close from 2.30pm. There will also be a bring and buy ,and a raffle .All are welcome .
On Tuesday 8th November the speaker will be Ian Burrows.

Buttercross Club
In October, Buttercross Club had their annual Harvest Supper, which was well attended by members and guests , with over 40 people sitting down to a lovely meal prepared by the committee. After welcome drinks, everyone tucked into a beef carbonnade, followed by roulade and fresh berries. After dinner entertainment was provided by a quiz which taxed both local and general knowledge! The November meeting, on Wednesday 2nd, will be craft evening where members will be making a Christmas Cracker centrepiece, for which there will be a small charge of about £2.50. On December 7th, Buttercross will celebrate Christmas with a buffet, members are asked to bring along a contribution to the cocktail buffet, sweet or savoury foods. There will also be a secret Santa, so will all members attending the meeting please bring along a gift wrapped present to the value of £5.
