Items discussed under Open Forum and Village Matters:

Ufford Playing Field – Residents requested that trees such as birch could be planted on the playing field to create areas of shade for young children during the Summer months.  UPC agreed to look into a structure, such as a sail for a larger area of shade, which may meet funding criteria.

Dog Fouling – There seem to be more instances of dog fouling along the verges and footpaths around the village.  Please could dog owners be reminded that it is their responsibility to clear up after their dogs.

Village litter and dog waste bins - The two litter bins on the hill outside the Village Hall have not been emptied in many weeks.  This has been chased up by UPC.  It was suggested that UPC request additional dog waste bins from PCC (on the hill and at the bottom of the village).

Traffic Calming – It was suggested residents obtain 30mph stickers to put on their wheelie bins to remind drivers to slow their speed through the village.  UPC will speak to Highways and find out who supplies these.

Defibrillator Training Sessions - A provisional date for the session is 3rd October at 7pm, more details will be advertised shortly.

Noticeboards – A replacement village noticeboard has been installed outside the Village Hall.  To gain access there are two screws on the right-hand side.  These have been left loose, so they can be unscrewed, and the door can then be pulled open and accessed by residents.

Ward Councillor David Over reported - The new council offices at Sandmartin House (Fletton Quays) are superb and only ten minutes’ walk from the Town Hall.

The Chief Executive of the Devolved Authority has resigned so Gillian Beasley (Peterborough and Cambs Council Chief Executive) has stepped in as temporary CEO.

Ufford Heritage Publication - Frieda presented ideas on how to take the publication forward and gave suggestions on how funds could be raised to cover print costs.  The working group will be meeting on Tuesday 18th Sept at 7.30pm, but if you were not able to make the meeting and would like to find out more, please contact the Clerk.

Barnack Parish Council

The Parish Council met on 10th September.  To read the full Minutes, please visit www.barnackparishcouncil.org, view them on the Village noticeboards or request a copy from the clerk.

Note the following are a selection of items discussed:

Outstanding Items

Post Box – The new post box has been installed by Royal Mail outside the rear gates to the church.  The box is due to be in commission from this week.

Telephone Kiosks – The Barnack box is due to be disconnected from the mains on 14th September, which will enable the PC to relocate the box.

Bus Shelters – The installations have been delayed until late November, and as a result of these delays, PCC have waived the Parish Council’s contribution and will fund both shelters.

Planning

Linden Homes – 18/00377/REM, Land to the West of Uffington Road, Reserved matters approval for 80 dwellings – Linden Homes confirmed a start date for works of 10th September. BPC have received the latest set of plans showing landscaping and planting along the boundary.  Those properties due to be affected will be able to view the plans over the next week or two.

Further name suggestions for the new estate were passed on to BPC ahead of the meeting.  These were discussed, and it was agreed the street name would be most suited to the history of the land/field the development is situated on.  PCC will consult on their preferred choice in due course.

18/01284/HHFUL, 37 Uffington Road, Barnack, Installation of a vehicle crossing. Permitted.

Peterborough Local Plan – The Local Plan is at Stage 2 of the examination process.

Other Items

Hills and Holes Grazing – BPC are clarifying with Natural England the inconsistent signage and confusion over where you can walk dogs on the nature reserve.  Concerns around aggression from the ponies will also be registered with Natural England.

Neighbourhood Plan – The working group met earlier this month and are in the process of agreeing the neighbourhood area.

Christmas Tree Light Switch-on – The date for your diaries for this event is Saturday 8th December. More details to follow soon in the Parish News.

Barnack Primary School – Over the Summer an active group of volunteers have been busy carrying out maintenance work, gardening and tidying on the School grounds.  Thank you to all those involved! BPC continues to support the School in pursuit of Section 106 funds that were allocated to the School.

The next Parish Council meeting will be held on Monday 8th October at 7pm in the Village Hall.  All welcome.
