Shrove Tuesday Pancakes!

Once again pancakes will be served at the Barnack Village Hall on Shrove Tuesday, which is February 17th this year. Please come along for a pancake from 3.30-5.00pm and enjoy the fun, before you start to fast for Lent (?). There’s no charge.

The Children’s Society

It is now time to empty your collection boxes. Please could you deliver your box, or a donation, to Skipport, Main Street, Barnack, or give me a call on 740929 and I will collect it. The Children’s Society supports young people as they overcome huge life challenges and move forward to face their futures with hope. BIBLE COURSE

New to the Bible or want to go deeper? The Bible Course is for you. It shows how the key books, famous characters and epic events form one big story, from Genesis to Revelation. The course also provides tools and skills that help apply the Bible to everyday life. The course will be run on eight Wednesday evenings in the lead-up to Easter (February 11, 18,25; March 4, 11, 18, 25; April 1), at Holly Cottage, Wittering Road, Barnack PE9 3EY, from 7.30-9.00pm. The course is online, there is a video to watch each week, followed by discussion. It will be very relaxed and people are welcome however much/little they know about the Christian faith. BENEFICE MEN’S BREAKFAST

Howard Jones will be the speaker at the next Men’s Breakfast and will talk on ‘Water and Life in North Africa’. The Breakfast will be held on Saturday 7th February at the usual time of 8.30-10.00am in Barnack Village Hall. An invitation is extended to all men to come along to share in a full English breakfast, listen to a good speaker and enjoy the company of other guys. You can just come along on the day, but a quick call to Mike Mills (07523312387) beforehand helps to ensure there are plenty of sausages and bacon for everyone!

Lost and Found.

Messy Church will be at the usual time of 3.30-5.00pm in Barnack Church on Sunday 8th February. Please do come and join us if you can. Our puppet friends, Peggy and Mickey, are coming too this month.
When we arrive there’ll be snacks, drinks and a fun activity. Then Peggy and Mickey will talk about the stories Jesus told of a lost coin and a lost sheep. Followed by lots of themed activities and crafts. Then songs, a thought on the bible theme and a prayer.

11th February sees the start of an 8 week Bible Course, in Barnack. Entitled “Grasp God’s big story in 8 weeks”. If you might be interested to join in please do get in touch.
15th February Pancake Sunday in Bainton Reading room 4.30pm. We’ll be serving pancakes for one and all while we hold our Café style church service….
15th March Mothering Sunday again a 4.30pm service in St Mary’s church Bainton, we’ll this time be hosting a tea party for one and all
29th March Bishop Debbie will be with us as we hold our annual Primrose Festival. Lots of competitions to join in with such as flower arranging and photography….to be held again in and round our church of St Mary’s
13th September Bainton & Ashton Festival. Once more to be held in the grounds of Bainton House, with thanks to the Hewson family for hosting the event. Where we raise funds for St Mary’s church and also local charities.

ASH WEDNESDAY

We mark the start of Lent with services of communion with ashing, 18 February at 12 noon (Barnack) and 7 pm (Helpston)

PRIMROSE FESTIVAL

The Bainton Primrose Festival is back! 29 March from 1 pm, ending with a Palm Sunday service at 4.30 pm with Bishop Debbie.

GOD IN THE GARDEN

A day-long exploration of God’s relationship to his Creation, on Saturday 18 April from 11 am to 3 pm in All Saints Wittering church and churchyard. For everyone in the benefice. Please bring your own lunch. Activities for all ages – please let Revd Gary know if you’re attending.
