Items discussed included:
NHS Stay Well this Winter – PCC have put together information packs about how to keep safe, well and resilient during the winter months. If you would like a copy, please get in touch with the parish clerk.
Hare coursing – hare coursing (or lamping) within our county is on-going and should be reported as an emergency call to 999. If you see it happening, please call it in.
Drains and Sewerage – it is understood there have been issues for both Southorpe and Ufford recently which are being investigated by members of the parish council and Ward Councillor David Over. UPC will be following up with Anglian Water and Cllr Over will be writing to our local MP and Ombudsman to support improvement works.
Traffic Calming – UPC met with Highways’ John Bourke who is putting together a consultation for residents over the installation of two sets of speed cushions adjacent to Newport Way with the aim of slowing traffic in the vicinity of the school bus stop and playing field.
Ufford Heritage Book – sales remain steady with copies available at John Clare Cottage, Walkers of Stamford and from the parish clerk. Please contact the clerk if you would like to purchase a copy.
John Clare Country – Richard Astle from The Langdyke Trust visited Barnack Ward Group to share his proposals for the John Clare Country Vision. UPC are keen to support the vision and are looking into suggestions for areas within the village for additional tree planting.
Parish Council Elections – elections will be held in May (they happen every four years), if you would like to find out more about becoming a parish councillor and how you can support your community, please get in touch with a member of UPC or the parish clerk.
Current planning applications:
19/01562/FUL, Land to the rear of Highlands, Marholm Road, Proposed outbuilding. Awaiting Decision.
19/01850/CTR, Land adjacent to Bluebell Cottage, Main Street, Tree works including fell cypress and lift crown of cherry. Permitted.
The next parish council meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th March at 7.30pm in the village hall. All residents are welcome to attend.
Barnack Parish Council
The parish council met on 10th February.
Items discussed included:
Barnack Community Association – Sally Hullock presented to BPC to request funding toward maintenance projects identified for the Village Hall. BPC are supportive of the works and on receipt of three quotes will consider the requests.
VE Commemoration Day – The BCA and other community groups are looking into options to commemorate VE day.
Barnack CE School – Mike Mills attended the meeting and updated BPC on progress at the school.
Barnack & Pilsgate Defibrillators – CPAD devices are in place in Barnack and Pilsgate and registered with East of England Ambulance Trust. An emergency 999 line will be installed in the Pilsgate kiosk shortly and Western Power will connect supply for the light and cabinet in the Barnack kiosk.
Grit Bins – PCC have replaced the damaged grit bins, but BPC are requesting green ones are put back in place as it is a conservation area.
Cemetery – There have been recent reports of dog fouling in the cemetery – if you walk your dog through the cemetery it must be on a lead and you are responsible for clearing up any mess. The missing wheelie bin is due to be replaced shortly.
Ward Group – Richard Astle from The Langdyke Trust attended the recent meeting to share the John Clare Country Vision and ask for support from neighbouring parishes to undertake a tree planting scheme.
Hills & Holes – A volunteer from Natural England attended the meeting to report two recent dog attacks on Hills and Holes. One incident took place on 31st Jan and the sheep had to be euthanised. The second incident took place on 2nd Feb and was self-reported by the dog owner, which meant that the sheep received medical attention and could be saved. Volunteers are policing H&H daily which is taking time away from the work they need to be doing. Please KEEP YOUR DOGS ON A LEAD! If you are in doubt about which compartments have livestock in them, please call the Warden or check the signs and maps. NO DOGS should be walked in compartments containing livestock.
Barnack Fun Run – The Fun Run will take place on 25th April. If you are able to volunteer for this popular community event, please contact Mike Mills.
Maintenance – Highways have been asked to address the pot holes on Uffington Road. The church wall is due to be repaired by Alex Rippon.
Parish Council Elections – Elections are due to take place in May. Chair Harry Brassey advised members that he will be retiring from his role ahead of the election in May. The Parish Clerk will also be standing down in May – a job advertisement will be posted shortly.

19/01719/HHFUL, 7 Bainton Road – Proposed first floor extension. Awaiting Decision.
19/01703/HHFUL, Pilsgate Grange, Stamford Road – Demolish side extension and rebuild same dimensions, using same materials due to severe foundation failure. Permitted.
20/00150/CTR, 1 Canon Drive – Tree works, reduce crown and reshape cherry tree. No objections.
20/00066/CTR, 5 Owen Close – Tree works, pollard of large malus, fell of purple prunus. No objections.
