Celebrate St Valentines Day
Come Along & Celebrate St Valentines Day at St Mary’s Church Bainton 4.30pm Sunday 16th February
Hi all why not come along and enjoy some heart shaped gingerbread and a different kind of service. Our third service of each month is always a slightly different style, we’ve done God in the Garden before, so great to be out and about in our churchyard. St Valentines we’ll be celebrating all things love orientated. Be that Affection natural affection, Friendship the bond of friendship, Eros romantic love and Charity selfless or unconditional love, as per the writings of C S Lewis.
Might even be the odd chocolate heart to help us on our all things Valentines Day, just gone by then obvs.
Date for yer diaries also
Bishop Debbie is coming to town : St Mary’s Church Bainton 4.30pm Sunday 18th May
Come along and meet Bishop Debbie and also for an informal service with refreshments afterwards, obvs.
The Monday Club
As we meet on the THIRD Monday of the month it is sometimes difficult to get news to the magazine in time; any news about recent meetings will always be a month in arrears.
However, we are being well supported by our members and enjoying a variety of talks and activities. Planning our programme for 2025 is underway. Twenty-four of us went to a delicious Christmas Lunch at the Crown at Casterton in December and by the time this magazine has gone to press we will have enjoyed another visit from Tim Alban Jones, Dean of Peterborough Cathedral, for our January meeting.
Just to remind our members – in February (17th) we are having our Winter Quiz and in March (17th) the postponed talk by one of the Sue Ryder hospice team. BK

VILLAGE HALLS WEEK
17th – 23rd March, 2025 is Village Halls Week!
Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) runs this annual campaign to shine a spotlight on the contribution England’s 10,000+ village halls make to rural communities.
In our villages we are lucky enough to have Bainton Reading Room, Barnack Sports Pavilion, Barnack Village Hall and Ufford Village Hall. These valuable spaces enable our community to hold meetings, parties, regular groups & classes and social gatherings. Our community spaces are run by volunteers and are always on the lookout for new faces!
In England alone, it is estimated that over 80,000 people regularly volunteer their time with village halls, from those on management committees who oversee the day-to-day use of the building and its finances, to those who organise events and group activities for the benefit of the local community.
We ask all residents to encourage and support the efforts of the volunteers who keep these important rural community buildings open. So sign up for a group, start a new group, attend social events & fundraisers and keep our community spaces alive!

COFFEE STOP BARNACK
Thanks to everyone who supported the Coffee Stop Christmas Sing Along before Christmas, it was a great event that raised £182 for the Disasters Emergency Committee.
Coffee Stop meets every Wednesday in the Millstone Pub from 10.30-12.00. It’s a great way to catch up with friends- and make new ones if you are a newcomer to the village. It’s also good to know that we are supporting our local pub.

Barnack Messy Church
The next Messy Church will be from 3.30-5.00pm in Barnack Church on Sunday 9th February. The title is: What did Jesus say? “I forgive you”. As usual, we’ll have the Bible story, activities and crafts, songs and a prayer… plus of course, food and drinks! Please do come along and enjoy the all-family fun. Newcomers are particularly welcome.

St Patrick’s Night – Barnack Village Hall
Friday 14th March 2025 – SAVE THE DATE
This year St Patrick’s Day falls on Monday 17th March but in anticipation of the day, we thought we’d hold an evening of all things green at Barnack Village Hall.
We’re planning a dinner served with an Irish nod; music and might be the odd Irish-inspired game! We have not quite confirmed all the details but for those who enjoy our BCA evening socials then please get the date in the diary and feel free to get in touch with any questions or to reserve your tickets. £15 per person.
P.S. We did want to do a Ceilidh but this would limit the number of guests to 40-50 because of the Hall space, so we may do this in the warmer months in a marquee!
Look out for the March edition for confirmed details.
