20mph speed limit consultation

The Parish Council has instructed the Highways Dept at Peterborough City Council to create a traffic order for a 20mph speed restriction throughout the villages. This is a legal order and has to be advertised locally when residents are consulted and have a chance to object or support the move. Look out for a leaflet through your door explaining about the process and traffic regulation order.

Vacancies

The Parish Council co-opted two new Parish Councillor members at their last meeting. William (Bill) Gibson and Stephen Taylor came forward to thankfully fill the then two vacancies and avoid the council being inquorate and not able to function – Cllr Irene Walsh resigned from her Parish Councillor position to concentrate on the Ward and City Councillor positions she has recently been appointed to and will therefore still be supporting the villages. Consequently though, there is still a Parish Cllr vacancy and so anyone who is willing to put themselves forward, please do get in touch – details below.

Meanwhile, the Parish Council is exploring amalgamation with other Parish Councils in the ward in case this is necessary and is a better option. Consultation would also be needed for this as residents may prefer decisions to be made for the villages just by locals.

Activities

The Parish Councillors continue to work for the parishes on refurbishment at the Sheepwash coming to an end soon hopefully, improvements at High Field Road parking and anti-social behaviour, nature recovery work on the verges and the county wildlife site, speed reduction measures, flood management with a joint agency meeting approach and will also be looking at the possibility of a grant for the play area to improve facilities there.
