Love And Nourishment

Can you believe that we’re soon coming into April, the first quarter of the year has already gone! I’m hoping you are starting to pay attention to your feelings and setting goals around how you want to feel. This practice can be done every day, it’s especially effective first thing in the morning.

For example, first thing as soon as I wake up I feel grateful that I have been given another day to live my life and I say thank you for all the wonderful people in my life.

The goals I set myself for the rest of the day will normally be to practice patience (tested on a daily basis especially first thing in the morning just after I set my goals). To feel authentic, to feel I have enough energy and strength to give to myself AND to everyone else, to be open minded and be willing to see things differently, lastly to be loving and open hearted. This is just my personal way that I want to feel for the day and which helps me live a life of joy and happiness. It’s important to choose your own feelings, as the main point of the exercise is so you see how you use your feelings as your own GPS to guide and navigate your day and make better choices in line with those feelings?

As a Health Coach I am a big believer in that you are the experts of your own body. I don’t set people on a rigid diet and exercise plan. We discover and explore together how your body responds to certain food and how you feel after eating certain foods, as well as exercise.

healthy eatingFor example some people thrive really well on a Low Carbohydrate way of eating, for some people eating this way makes them moody and lethargic over a long enough period of time. On the other hand some people thrive on higher Carbohydrates, so start monitoring how you feel to find that Goldilocks point.

The same also applies to exercise, if you do an exercise that gives you more energy or makes you feel more relaxed than before you started then that type of exercise works best for your body. On the other hand if that exercise makes you feel exhausted, depleted or drained of energy for the rest of the day then listen to that feeling it’s always your GPS!

The best thing you could do is to try different ways of eating and exercising. Try a different way of eating for at least 4 weeks then add back in some of your normal food, then feel the difference. Write a food journal, list what you eat, time, and then how did you feel straight after, then one hour after then 2 hours after.

Here is a simple mantra that I get my clients to use before they eat anything. Look at the food and ask yourself “Is this food going nourish my body?” It’s so simple, but so effective. Also say to yourself first thing in the morning “Today I deserve to eat food that will only nourish my body, because my wonderful body deserves it”.

Under the current climate, it’s important to help your immune system as much as possible. Taking some extra steps with food can really help. Reducing your sugar intake can really help keep your immune system healthy. Drinking plenty of water especially with a squeeze of Lemon Juice. Another really amazing immune strengthening food is Bone Broth, plus this will make your food stretch further! The same can be done with vegetables.

I don’t believe in a world of based on Syns or Points, just love and nourishment!

Keep safe and keep calm.
