Barnack Sports Facility – Opening delayed
The sports court has now been built and looks fantastic. However, the Contractors still have the shed to install and until this is complete handover to the Parish Council is delayed. We will open the facility as soon as we can.
Current planning applications:
The Parish Council made no objection to the following new applications.
a) 22/00409/HHFUL – 9 Orchard Road, Barnack, lowering of kerbside for off-road parking Awaiting decision.
b) 22/00317/LBC – The Village Hall, School Road, Barnack, new doors Awaiting decision.
c) 22/00578/CTR – Paddock Gate, 3m reduction to silver birth branch. Awaiting decision.
Jubilee Weekend Celebrations
Beacon Lighting on Thursday 2nd June @ 9.45pm at the beacon near the Cricket Club.

News from Bainton and Ashton Parish Council
The Parish Council held their Annual Parish Meeting on 3rd May 2022 and there were many village groups represented who all gave a very useful update on the work and activities of their group over the last year and some plans for the future. A presentation from the Langdyke Trust was well received explaining the work of the Trust supporting Councils in the area with their Nature Recovery Plans. They remain very impressed with Bainton and Ashton’s plan and work so far, it has to be said! All of the reports are available to view on the Parish Council website.
On the subject of nature recovery, all residents will shortly receive a leaflet about how management of the verges and green spaces has been adapted recently in order to protect and enhance wildlife habitats and species for the future – very many of which have sadly declined in recent years. The leaflet explains how residents can help too and more information will be available in due course. You will also see some new verge posts that have been installed on the County Wildlife site verge, going into Ashton. These give information about the verge and are there to protect it. Other verge posts have been installed on the Pinfold to replace the broken, old ones there and other old ones have been removed near the back of the church – please do not park here.
There is going to be a village litter pick on Saturday 18/6/22, 10-12 if anyone is interested in helping, please do get in touch, details below.
At the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council, held on the same evening above, the Council re-elected Councillor Susie Lucas as Chairman for another year. All of the Councillor’s details are on the notice boards in Ashton, Bainton bus shelter and the main ones are now outside the Reading Room. The next meeting is Tuesday 5th July 2022 at 7pm with a visit from Sam Falco, Planning Officer from Peterborough City Council, to talk about any issues regarding planning policy and decisions you may have. The important issue of speeding will also be discussed at this meeting and measures to try to reduce the problem addressed. All are welcome.
