Southorpe Parish Council

Southorpe Council met on Wednesday 12th November in Barnack Village Hall with four Councillors present and one sending their apologies. The previous Minutes were accepted and signed then the usual business of the meeting continued.
On the planning front, one application has been approved, one withdrawn and one tree pruning had no objection submitted by the Council.
The Local Government re-Organisation was discussed and Peterborough City Council have now voted for Option D, a 3 Unitary Authority Split (Greater Peterborough, Mid Cambridgeshire and Greater Cambridge.
The Budget figures were presented and agreed. The full Budget and Precept figures will be available on the Southorpe Parish Council website after the January meeting.
A very successful Bonfire and Fireworks Evening was arranged and enjoyed by many villagers, friends and families. Many thanks to Corinna and her band of helpers.

Barnack & Pilsgate Parish Council Update

Community
BPC would like to say a big thank you to Barnack resident Donna Sackree for organising the recent village litter pick which was a huge success.
A polite notice, if a dog waste bin is full, please dispose of the waste appropriately.
Peterborough Neighbourhood Policing Team are holding a surgery at Barnack Village Hall on 2nd December, 4.30-5.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Please continue to report all crimes no matter how big or small via the neighbourhood policing online reporting portal, unless it’s urgent then by telephoning 999. The portal can be found via the following – https://www.peterboroughpolice.com/en/report/report.aspx

The bobby scheme, The Bobby Project – Making Homes Safer is a charity which helps in securing homes and improving community safety.
The local policing team can be contacted directly if required rather than through the main switchboard. CIL money – Community Infrastructure Levy. Ideas are most welcome of how this money could be spent to support development in the village. Please email the Clerk any ideas you have.
Please keep an eye on the noticeboards and the community Facebook page for the clubs which take place in the village hall and any upcoming events in the village.
A date for your diary. The annual Barnack Light Switch-On event will be taking place on Saturday 13th December, 5-7.30pm. This is a BPC event supported by the BCA.
Planning

BPC submitted its formal objection to PCC regarding the Vineyard, Uffington Road planning application, ref – 25/01157/FUL which has subsequently been refused by Planning at PCC.BPC’s objection and PCC’s reasons for the refusal can be viewed on PCC’s planning portal – https://planpa.peterborough.gov.uk/online-applications//search.do?action=simple&searchType=Application
The draft Local Plan is due to be released by PCC for public consultation at the beginning of 2026. BPC are seeking planning advice in preparation for this and have highlighted their concerns to PCC further to the additional housing proposal in Barnack.
Highways
BPC are currently working on Speedwatch and traffic calming measures. More details to follow.

Ufford Parish Council Update

UPC met on Tuesday 11th November with four councillors present and three members of the public. Also in attendance was our Parish Clerk.
Members of the public are invited to address the council with regard to any agenda item. The manager of The White Hart raised issues relating to a recent event held at the pub on the 5th November. Difficulties with parking during any large scale event were discussed. The Council noted the improvements made to parking arrangements for the recent Bonfire Night. It was suggested that a community working group could be formed to help support the organisation and management of future events held by the pub. UPC thanked the manager of The White Hart for coming to the meeting.
Concerns were raised by another member of the of the public about the gates at Lambpit Drift and the village well gate. Maintenance of the church clock and an update on the Local Plan were also addressed.
Planning
Just one planning application (Newport Farm) is awaiting a decision. Information regarding this can be seen on PCC planning portal.
Additional Points
Police Surgery to be held on 2nd December at Barnack Village Hall 16.30-17.30.
Speed limits through Ufford-update from the Chair after a meeting with the Barnack Ward Councillor Kevin Tighe.
Good Neighbours Scheme-UPC subscribe but are seeking more information for villagers who may wish to use the scheme.
Residents can currently participate online to PCC Budget Consultation until 25/11/25.
Village Matters
UPC are seeking clarification from Anglian Water as to why residents are having so many issues with their water supply.
The well gate has becoming loose. This is scheduled to be fixed in the coming weeks.
Lambpit Drift gates are currently broken. Work on these should be completed by Christmas.
