Members agreed to purchase a speed warning sign to deter cars heading north in Main Street. It had been hoped to have two signs back-to-back on the same existing post but that had not proved possible so a site for another sign to control cars entering from the Bainton direction will be identified for approval at the December meeting.

With regard to speeding, PCSO Lorraine Moore reported that a recent Speedwatch check on Walcot Road had not identified any cars exceeding the limit. At the previous meeting the use of mirrors at unsighted entrances had been discussed but the Clerk reported that the City Engineers had informed him that they didn’t install them on the highway because of the  potential for problems for drivers. Any installation would have to be on private property.

A grant for £225-00 had been received from the Natural Environment Grant Scheme and as a result bat boxes have now been ordered to be placed in Southey Wood. After all the effort in recent years there are no plans for more tree planting at present.

The lobbying by Ufford and other Ward Parish Councils for Superfast Broadband seems to be having an effect as by the first week in November almost 75% of Ufford properties had registered with ConnectingCambridgeshire.
